We choose Taste if Chennai based on the extensive amount of Google reviews.
Very happy we dined here. Everything was well made and tasted very fresh, homemade even, with subtle and bold flavors mixed. The left overs added even more flavor to lemon chicken we had a home.
Unfortunately the Thali, only available weekends, was also only available until 3pm.
It was a bit disappointing to not have the variety.
It was also unpleasant when others would leave the door to a common hallway, where the bathroom is located, open it would get hot and steamy quickly especially when eating hot Indian food.
All in all we highly recommend and will return soon earlier on a weekend for the Thali!!
Absolutely delicious! We followed the google map to find this restaurant. It’s a small restaurant with a wide range of food options. Everything we ordered was delightful, wish we had a bigger belly to try more. Service was also excellent. Definitely come back!
Delicious food! We really loved the dosas and chicken tika masala. Portions were a great size and service was friendly!
Whenever I want to eat Indian food, I usually take the train into Manhattan to get really authentic cuisine. After finding this place, I am relieved that I no longer have to take a long train to get amazing quality Indian food. This restaurant may be better than any Indian restaurant that I have been to in NYC. For the appetizers, we got the samosa chaat, goat and fried fish. They all were extremely delicious and unique. We got the Gongura chicken curry for the main dish and our minds were blown! Make sure you get a side of garlic naan and mango lassi. Will most definitely be coming back soon!
What a hidden gem in long island and Hicksville area. The food was great (you need to tell on how spicy you want). The owners are very very friendly and warm. They make sure that you enjoy the food and it is at the light level of spiciness. Very very good service , lot of the upscale places should learn customer service from this place. Definitely will come back again
My good friend brought me here, hyping it up the entire time. I was worried that he had overplayed it, and that it wouldn’t live up to expectations— I was so very wrong.
Every single dish we ordered was phenomenal. The service and attention was just as great. I cannot wait to go back.
This is a really good South Indian restaurant in this area. When you walk in, it smells great because of the yummy dishes.
I tried a few things here. Some were okay, some were really good. The weekend thali is a good choice if you want to try a little bit of everything. I had the chicken thali and it was pretty good.
The Pondicherry dosa was big. It’s enough for two people if you don’t want to eat too much.
But, I didn’t like the paratha much. The second one wasn’t made well, and it seemed like they tried to hide it under the first one. When we told the server, she said that’s how they make it and didn’t change it.
We also had Mango Lassi and lemonade. The mango lassi was nice but it was more like mango juice. We also thought the drinks were a bit small.
It was my first time coming here and we came during morning. The food was OK, we order Chicken Chettinad (the chicken was all shredded and broken), The thali was good.
But, the lady she seems like the boss or manager she was very disrespectful. She talked to us in a very smug way. Later I see when other two white customers looked like daily customers, she was greeting them from door to table and with smiley face and laughing and giving menus while they were still on door.
But, for us she just sent other server lady saying “I don’t understand your language”. I was shocked because we were speaking English too. But just clearly ditched us just because we looked like Asian not “American”. It was very disrespectful. She treated us like we came there to eat for free.
The other server lady who came after that was really nice. She was very patience and she understood what we wanted and helped us.
